Since 2013, JICA launched the African Business Education Initiative for youth (ABE) as one of the core commitments in TICAD V in Yokohama, Japan in 2013 providing 1,000 youths in Africa with opportunities to study at Japanese universities as well as experience internships at Japanese enterprises to foster human resource development for Africa. In Rwanda, under TICAD V framework, total of 26 Rwandan students from 3 batches benefited from ABE initiative masters scholarship in Japan. The initiative will nurture goodwill ambassadors between Japan and Rwanda and to strengthen economic ties between the private sectors in two countries
